[イスタンブール２７日ロイター] - 米国とロシアの代表団は２７日（訂正）、トルコのイスタンブールで相互の大使館の機能正常化に向けた協議を行った。協議は６時間にわたり、議題は外交官の処遇という狭い範囲に限定されたものの、将来的に核軍縮や経済協力など米ロ関係の全般的な進展につながる可能性がある。

今回の会合には米国からコールター国務副次官補、ロシアからダルチエフ外務省北米局長が出席。ダルチエフ氏は、現在空席になっている駐米大使の有力候補とされる。

ロシアのプーチン大統領は、トランプ政権との初期の接触に期待を表明。ロシア外務省のザハロワ報道官は、今回の協議が信頼を醸成し、二国間関係の「障害」を取り除くための一連の接触の第一歩になるとの見方を示した。

ロシアのラブロフ外相は、今回の協議の結果で両国がどの程度迅速に前に進むことができるかが示されると指摘。米国務省は事前に、今回の会合で政治や安全保障、ウクライナ問題は取り上げないと明確に示していた。
