［ワシントン　１７日　ロイター］ - 米軍が中東地域により多くの戦闘機を配備し、他の軍用機の配備期間を延長していることが１７日、複数の米政府当局者の話で分かった。イスラエルとイランの軍事衝突を受け、中東地域での米軍の戦力を増強するという。

当局者によると、配備されるのはＦ１６、Ｆ２２、Ｆ３５戦闘機など。こうした戦闘機はドローン（小型無人機）などの迎撃に使用されてきたとし、防衛的な意味合いを強調した。

国防総省からは今のところコメントを得られていない。

別の米当局者によると、弾道ミサイルを撃ち落とすことができる軍艦を東地中海に追加配備する可能性もある。
