マスク氏のミサイル防衛システムへの関与で調査要請＝米民主党議員
[ワシントン １日 ロイター] - 米民主党の議員グループが米国防総省の監察官代理に対し、トランプ米政権のミサイル防衛システム「ゴールデン・ドーム」構築計画における米起業家イーロン・マスク氏の関わりについて調査するよう求める書簡を送ったことが分かった。ロイターが書簡の内容を確認した。
書簡は５月１日付で、送ったのはエリザベス・ウォーレン氏ら民主党議員２４人から成るグループ。マスク氏の宇宙企業スペースＸの関与を理由に、ゴールデン・ドームの調達プロセスの成り立ちについて調査を要求している。
ロイターは先に、スペースＸがデータ解析のパランティア、ドローン（無人機）メーカーのアンデュリルと組んでシステム主要部分の入札に参加し、受注競争で最有力候補に浮上していると報道。マスク氏とトランプ政権の結び付きが強い点にも触れた。
書簡は「これは極めて憂慮すべき記事だ」とロイターの報道に言及。「ゴールデン・ドームを構築する防衛契約が米国民を守る有効な手段なのか、あるいはマスク氏や他のエリートを富ませるためのものなのかという懸念が生じている」と指摘した。また監察官が、マスクは自社に有利になるように調達プロセスに関与していたと判断した場合には、司法省に刑事捜査を求めるよう要請した。
国防総省監察官事務所は書簡を受け取ったことを認め、現在精査中だと回答した。スペースＸはコメント要請に応じなかった。
