トランプ氏「米中が24日朝に会合」、関税巡り中国側の否定に反論

［ワシントン　２４日　ロイター］ - トランプ米大統領は２４日、米中貿易摩擦の緩和に向けて両国が同日午前に会合を開いたことを明らかにした。貿易戦争の緩和に向けた協議を行っていないとする中国の主張に反論した格好。詳細については「いずれ明らかにするかもしれない」と述べるにとどめた。

トランプ氏は記者団に「彼らは今朝会合を開いた」と述べたが、詳細については明言を避け、「『彼ら』が誰なのかは問題ではない。彼らは今朝会合を開き、われわれは中国と会談している」と語った。

一方、中国側は２４日、米国との貿易協議は実施していないと述べている。

中国外務省の郭嘉昆報道官は記者会見で、「中国と米国は関税について協議や交渉を行っておらず、ましてや合意には達していない」と述べ、協議を巡る報道は「誤報」だとした。

ホワイトハウス当局者によると、両国間で事務レベルの対面協議と電話会談が今週行われたという。

ベッセント財務長官は２３日、米中の高水準の関税は持続可能ではないとの認識を示した。貿易交渉の進展には互いに表明している関税率を引き下げる必要があるとする一方、いかなる措置も一方的に実施されることはないと述べた。もっと見る

米国は今月、中国からの輸入品に１４５％の関税を発動。これに対して中国は米製品への関税を１２５％に引き上げたほか、重要鉱物の輸出規制を強化するなどして対抗している。
