米軍、カリブ海でベネズエラ発の船舶攻撃麻薬積載＝トランプ氏

［ワシントン　２日　ロイター］ - 米軍は２日、カリブ海で違法薬物を積んでいたとされるベネズエラ発の船舶を攻撃し、１１人を殺害した。トランプ大統領が明らかにした。政権がカリブ海地域に軍艦を増派して以来、初めての作戦となる。

トランプ氏はホワイトハウスで記者団に対し「米軍は数分間、麻薬を積んだボートを攻撃した。その船舶には大量の麻薬が積まれていた」と述べた。

その後、ボートが爆発・炎上する様子を撮影したとみられるドローン（無人機）からの動画を自身の交流サイトに投稿。乗組員は米国が２月にテロ組織に指定したベネズエラのギャング「トレン・デ・アラグア」のメンバーだと明かした。

国防当局者は米軍が「麻薬船に対する精密攻撃」を実施したことを認めたが、攻撃がどのように行われたかや麻薬の種類などの詳細は明らかにしていない。

ベネズエラ当局はコメント要請に応じていない。

米国は麻薬カルテルを取り締まるというトランプ大統領の公約を実行するため、カリブ海南部に大規模な海軍部隊を展開。ベネズエラとの間で緊張が高まっていた。

ルビオ国務長官は「これらの麻薬はおそらくトリニダード・トバゴかカリブ海の他の国に向かっていたのだろう」と記者団に述べた。
