欧州・カナダの24年国防費、前年比20％増＝ＮＡＴＯ事務総長

［ブリュッセル　７日　ロイター］ - 北大西洋条約機構（ＮＡＴＯ）のルッテ事務総長は７日、ＮＡＴＯの欧州加盟国とカナダの２０２４年の国防費は前年比２０％増加だったことを明らかにした。国防費を巡っては、トランプ米大統領はＮＡＴＯ加盟国に対し国内総生産（ＧＤＰ）比５％に引き上げるよう要求している。

ＮＡＴＯの発表によると、米国以外の同盟国の国防費が２０％増加したことで、国防費の総額は４８５０億ドル超に上るという。

ルッテ事務総長はロイターからの問い合わせに対し、国防費は増加傾向にあるとした上で、「欧州とカナダの支出は２４年に２０％増加し、ここ数年の追加総額は６４００億ドルから７０００億ドルに引き上がった」指摘。「ここ数年」とは、ＮＡＴＯ加盟国が対ＧＤＰ比２％を国防費に充てるという目標に合意した１４年以降の期間を指すと述べた。

昨年公表されたＮＡＴＯの推定データによれば、加盟国３２カ国のうち２３カ国が現在その目標を達成しているものの、トランプ氏が求めるＧＤＰ比５％の水準には米国を含めＮＡＴＯ加盟国のいずれも達してない。
