米大統領、大手法律事務所に通商交渉での「無償」支援依頼も
[ワシントン １０日 ロイター] - トランプ米大統領は１０日、４つの大手法律事務所が政権に対する法務サービスの無償提供に合意したことを受け、こうした事務所に他国との通商交渉の無償支援を依頼する可能性を示唆した。
トランプ氏は閣議で「多くの法律事務所が政権への多額の法務サービスを提供（で合意）してくれた。このような一流事務所に通商交渉の手助けをしてもらおうと考えている」と語った。具体的な事務所の名前は挙げなかった。
４つの法律事務所は、退役軍人の支援など政権が承認した目的に関連し、数億ドル規模の法務サービスの無償提供に合意している。
トランプ氏は、自身の政策に反対して提訴している原告や政敵を弁護したり、前政権で自身の捜査に関与した司法長官を雇用している法律事務所を標的に、懲罰的な大統領令を発令していた。
大統領令の対象となっていた法律事務所ポール・ワイスは先月、４０００万ドル相当の法務サービスの無償提供で政権と合意。他にスキャデン・アープス、ミルバンク、ウィルキーは大統領令の対象となることなく、それぞれ１億ドル相当の法務の無償提供で合意した。
４事務所の代表に、政権との合意内容に通商交渉の支援は合致しているのかコメントを求めたが、回答は得られていない。
