トランプ氏、国連大使の人事案を撤回下院の過半数維持を優先

［ワシントン　２７日　ロイター］ - トランプ米大統領は２７日、国連大使にエリーズ・ステファニク下院議員（共和党）を充てる人事案を撤回した。共和党は下院で僅差で過半数となっているため、同氏が国連大使に就任し議員辞職した場合に議席数の差が縮まるためという。

トランプ氏はソーシャルメディアへの投稿で「議会における共和党の議席を全て維持することが不可欠だ。非常に僅差の多数派なので、その議席を狙う他の誰かに渡すつもりはない」とした。

ステファニク氏の人事は１月３０日に上院外交委員会で承認され、上院本会議の承認も問題はないと予想されていた。
