トランプ氏、「政府効率化」で大統領令マスク氏への協力指示

[ワシントン１１日ロイター] - トランプ米大統領は１１日、連邦政府機関に対し、政府効率化省（ＤＯＧＥ）を率いる実業家イーロン・マスク氏と緊密に協力するよう命じる大統領令に署名した。

４歳の息子を肩に乗せたマスク氏は、ホワイトハウスの執務室でトランプ氏の署名に立ち合った。記者からの質問に、「自立した官僚機構は不可能だ。国民に応えるものである必要がある」と自身の役割を擁護した。

また、マスク氏と政府効率化チームがほぼ秘密裏に活動しているとの批判に反発し、自身が詳細な調査を受けることを完全に想定しているとした上で「何かから逃げられると思っているわけではない」と強調した。

ＤＯＧＥはほとんど秘密裏に運営され、職員や所在地、政府機関としての業務内容について一切情報を提供していない。

この日の大統領令は、離職者４人につき１人以上の職員を採用しないことや、大規模な人員削減と政府機関の完全な廃止に向けてマスク氏のチームと協力することを政府機関に義務付けた。

連邦職員への退職勧奨の動きを巡っては、裁判所が差し止める仮処分を命じている。もっと見る

マスク氏はこの日、トランプ大統領とほぼ毎日話すと明かし、政府の不正や無駄を洗い出す取り組みを通じて１兆ドルを節約するとも主張した。
