[ワシントン１４日ロイター] - 米トランプ政権が不法移民に対する一時的な身柄解放を審理する保釈審問を拒否し、拘束を継続する方針を打ち出したことが内部メモで明らかになった。

ロイターが入手した米連邦移民・税関執行局（ＩＣＥ）の指針によると、この方針は強制送還を不服として争っている数百万人に影響を及ぼす可能性がある。

トランプ政権はＩＣＥに対し、移民法の規定を「釈放禁止」と解釈するよう求め、移民法廷の審理で「収容継続を支持する従来と異なる主張を行う」よう促した。同時に、この方針転換は「訴訟に発展する可能性が高い」との認識も示した。

バイデン政権の元国土安全保障省高官、トム・ジャウェッツ氏は、この新方針は数十年来の不法移民収容に関する法的基準を覆すもので、「収容者が爆発的に増える可能性がある」と警告した。
